Monterrey Transit Shafts, Mexico

As a sub-consultant to Wiedlinger, OEI provided the geotechnical design criteria for the design of 1.8m-2m diameter drilled shafts, 12m-25 m long intended to support elevated light rail ,about 2 miles long in Monterrey Mexico. Shafts embedded in various strata ranging from clay to soft shale and conglomerates. Conventional analysis as well as finite element analysis was conducted to establish the shaft vertical and lateral stiffness or force-deformation relationship which was then used in the structural analysis.
